Fall Lawn Care

Thanks  to "Gardening with an Altitude" host, John Cretti for dropping by the program Saturday.  I had asked him if I were on the right track by aerating now and then fertilizing.   He agreed with my procedures and also with my feeling that we should NOT blow out the sprinkler system.  He wondered  why someone would spend all that money on a system only to have it sit idle for 6 months each year!

We really do need to winter water here-about once a month if it's dry this season.

If you have to aerate only once a year (twice is best), I asked, when should it be?  "In the fall", says John.

He is taking a sabbatical for a few months-we look forward to getting him back on Saturday mornings on KHOW in the spring.
